Spring Chicks 2018!

On March 24th, the Exeter Eagle Owls sent a team down to Maidenhead RFC for Spring Chicks 2018.

This is the second year we’ve been able to field a team down for this ladies only tournament and once again it did not disappoint.

The nine person team consisted of ladies with a range of touch experience from a few months to years from Exeter, Truro, Bristol and Cambridge.

After an early morning drive up and some introductions, they quickly came together as a team and got off to a cracking start with a win in their first game. With each match , as confidence grew, a new skill was added to the artillery; whether it be the bounce when defending in our five or a cheeky loop in offence.

Through some excellent teamwork and killer defence, this group of fierce ladies ended the day second in the shield final after playing six matches - three of which went to drop off.

Regardless if touch is life or not, it was an excellent day to gain more confidence in the game and ones abilities, learn some new skills and make some new friends.

We can’t wait for Spring Chicks 2019! A special thanks for Mir for taking on the role as team captain and James for coaching and cheering throughout the day.
